Smart Move Mouse

I wanted to have the cursor to move to my focused command buttons to direct the action and be more user friendly. This little thing does the trick. I found it in some old code of mine but I think it was borrowed back then.

Rx Writer (Medical Prescription)

This program is part of an Electronic Medical Records (EMR) application that I have been working on for years. It is not certified by Medicare and therefore will NOT allow one to obtain bonuses. I am a retired physician and I use this personally for my volunteer work. Rx Writer allows one to generate standard prescriptions. It is designed to make prescribing effortless for the doctor and even allows one to completely hand write the Rx or more accurately scribble it. The idea, though, is to reduce medical errors by making things legible. A Help file is included.

ConvertIT Audio/Video Converter UPDATE

This is an update and correction for txtCodeId=70578 original program. It wasn't converting most of the supported video formats so I fixed it. It uses ffmpeg.exe which is renamed to avformat.dll and placed in the app.path. I've supported the most recent build of ffmpeg.exe and I've placed it on my server: http://www.moosenose.com/avformat.zip. You may also download the original and compile it yourself: www.ffmpeg.org. I've also added conversion to Animated GIFs of various resolutions. The program will stay top most and can open the saved directory and play the saved, converted video. I've removed the dependency to the Common Dialog Control which makes the program portable for all versions of Windows which already have the VB 6 Runtimes. Other than that, the program is unchanged. Kindly give any positive feedback to the original author.

DesktopIcons (Win9X & WinNT/2000)

You will note that this works for both Win 9X and WinNT/2000!!! I take no credit for this code as I found it and altered it only slightly to save the icon positions for a given resolution. Frankly, I am a novice at API and much of this is over my head. The code saves the current Desktop Icon positions. You may move them around as you choose and then restore them. It saves the data to a file for each resolution you choose. Sort of like EasyDesk

Cardiovascular Risk

This is one of many of my medical artificial intelligence programs. Yes I know this isn't what you might consider AI, but I do. The program combines a bunch of algorithms to generate an interpretation of CV risk based upon history, BP and lipid levels. I've included the xls files from the Medical Algorithms web site for your interest (that is why the project is so big-sorry). The logic is intermediate while the programming beginners and it is not commented.

Everything Chinese, dictionaries, phrases and exercises

For the student of Chinese or the traveler to the Peoples Republic of China (Mandarin Chinese-Simplified), this is a complete learning utility. It includes a Chinese-English-Pinyin general and medical dictionary. Extensive phrases with an emphasis on medical complaints, allergies and medications. Using SAPI 5.1, everything is pronounced and read in English or Chinese and may be recorded to wav files which then may be converted to mp3's (using the support files: [www.moosenose.com/www.moosenose.com/OCX-EXE.zip]. Extensive help is included. Sapi 5.1 SDK [http://download.microsoft.com/download/speechSDK/SDK/5.1/WXP/EN-US/speechsdk51.exe] and the Asian Language Pack [http://download.microsoft.com/download/speechSDK/SDK/5.1/WXP/EN-US/speechsdk51LangPack.exe] must be installed for the speech functions and the regional settings must be adjusted to PRC Chinese to see the Chinese characters. Online help can be had here: [http://www.moosenose.com/v2.01/PinyinDictionary2.01.htm]. The program uses Tabctl32.ocx & Mp3Enc.ocx [in the downloaded support files] as well as the Richtx32.ocx and WebBrowser controls. The program files (with the dictionaries) is 10 MB and SAPI 5.1 is 83MB & the Language pack is 70MB.

Premiere Minus AVI Video Processing & Effects

Minor upgrades: (03-28-08) Tweaked a few things, fixed a few errors. (3-24-08): Now compatible with my program (CaptureScreen2AVI-GIF-MPG txtCodeId=61619). Compile and copy all executables and dll's to the root directory of CaptureScreen2AVI-GIF and enjoy. Major Update(07-22-07): Additional features have elevated this project into an Adobe Premiere like video processing utility. The interface has improved as the video frames can be viewed in a timeline, selected, processed with many effects, joined, split and saved as an AVI. I will try to write a help file soon...The program accepts multiple AVI (only and success may be contingent on the codec) files and will process them frame by frame. Disk consumption depends on the file size and resolution. Audio is not processed. I recommend small AVIs and/or limiting the number of frames captured. One may then join selected frames or all of the frames. The program accepts AVI's of different resolutions as well. One may also load a single avi and split out sections to write using a multiselect timeline. This is`based in part on Ray Mercers AVI code with some modifications. This utility compliments and will likely be incorporated in my Screen Capture program here on PSC.. Update(07-16-07): I've added the ability to apply effects (using AMAZING EFFECTS txtCodeId=55328, GraphicalDLL.dll; if you can't compile the C++ DLL, you may download it here: www.moosenose.com/GraphicalDLL.zip). Some minor bugs were fixed as well.---Update (08-25-07)---Interface improved, File backup and restore, Make animated GIF from edited video, Better selection features on timeline and view video with default avi viewing program. The Root.gif pictures shows which files should be in the root directory and the extra projects are included.---Update(08-29-07)---The program now prompts you for missing files and creates the directory structure. Sorry for the oversight and unfriendliness.

Copy DLL/OCX to System32 Folder and Register it

Simply compile to an exe and drag/drop any ocx or dll on it. It copies the file to the system32 directory (uses SHGetSpecialFolderLocation Lib "shell32.dll" API) and registers it. It saves me time as I was always copying the files to the system32, finding them and then registering them. Now, I don't have to. I will work on adding it to the Windows Explorer Context Menu (shell), maybe...---Update (08-25-07)---Fixed a bug in the Command$---Update(08-28-07)---Add/Remove Register/Unregister to the Windows Explorer Shell

True (not pseudo) Random Coin Toss

As you know, computers generate a pseudo set of random numbers. This is unavoidable in a digital environment. A coin toss is in reality an analog event. The only way to have a truly random number generator is by introducing an analog to digital conversion. This program does exactly that. The analog random event sampled is sound frequency and by using a microphone, a completely random set of numbers (seeds) are generated. The audio FFT is borrowed from PSC. Many methods have been suggested to perform this task. Some have used random data sets as seeds. Others have sampled mouse movement. A website provides realtime random atmospheric data (www.random.org). There has even been a proposal to include a cesium chip in all computers eventually as it decays in a random fashion. My method seems foolproof as long as a microphone is set at a reasonable sensitivity and the environment is noisey. The importance of true randomization cannot be overemphasized as this is essential for the scientific method and in clinical studies. My application, which will be posted soon, is simpler and more abstruse. I intend to use this random generator to identify variations in our collective unconscious, an idea I heard about on National Geographic. ---Update(08-22-07):Instability added, minor changes ---Update (08-25-07): Algorithm improved, Added Temporal Instability monitor with raw data, Chi Squared Statistic with table to assess randomness. You may compare a Simulation (using the Timer seed) versus my Hardware (sound) Seed, although significant difference will require over about 1 million flips. The instability data may be viewed in 15 minute intervals for about 1 year using MSChart32. Rudimentary help file with more to follow.

Print any picture as a 32 x 44 inch poster

Input any bmp, gif, jpg or wmf graphic of any resolution. The program uses .PaintPicture to resize the original, section it into 16 picture boxes and prints each out sequentially on selectable paper sizes and printers. I borrowed the printer activeX and references are preserved in the archive. Now I can re-wallpaper my place with her pictures ;)

NutCracker Sweet - Autoresponder Crack proof registration ;)

Updated ---(09-19-2007)--- This program is a combination of a few processes combined into one project. The idea was to develop an automated uncrackable (yeah right;) software registration process. I decided to use the serial number of the client's hard drive as the registration method, but I needed to embed this within the actual distributed executable. My solution (which is a work in progress), was to construct an autoresponder which would search for a subject keyword with the serial number. Write this to a module, re-compile the program with the module. Then, zip the executable using Winzip and finally email this back to the client. A help file is included. I've borrowed from a number of sources to get the autoresponder to work properly. You will need to compile the 2 DLL's included within the project. vbSendMail.dll Version 3.65 by Dean Dusenbery & FreeVBCode.com and POP3 library, http://www.evict.nl/open_source.asp: txtCodeId=62794 are greatly appreciated. Keywords: email, pop3, smtp, send, receive -----Updated with the following changes: The pop3 DLL upload was incomplete and this is corrected. I've added a link to the help file: http://moosenose.com/NutcrackerSweet/NutcrackerSweet.htm The interface has improved with the send and receive dialogs, the ability to dock, stay on top and go translucent. You can also launch your default email program and the help file shows how to included a Send/Receive to Outlook if it is present and referenced. I've also added the ability to send the client emails using a web portal thus avoiding smtp on the registrant end and this asp is included. Finally, I've added sampling the MAC address of the ethernet card to the registration process. The only way that I could do this on my computer was by parsing ipconfig.exe /all as the other methods didn't work...Oops, I fixed a little error that I missed.

Diabetes Care Insulin, Blood Sugar, Carbs Graph

Update(7-20-2008): Fixed Saving File, Disclaimer added, May now view data by day, week, month, etc...Next updates will likely include Insulin dosage adjustments, patient education, Nutritional education. Update(7-15-08): I left out the short data file. The screenshot was incomplete and fixed. The graph displays the values at the cursor and opens the particular record when clicked. One may zoom and contract the view as well...This is the initial part of a comprehensive medical Diabetes care program. At present, one inputs meal data, blood sugars, insulin dosage, gms carbohydrate and times. This is then plotted against time in a three tiered line graph. One may optimize and adjust therapy using this. It will likely be linked with an email option and autoresponder to send/receive from a care-giver's computer. Insulin titration information may be added but I am hesitant to put this on the patient side of the program. In addition, calculating gmCHO, glycemic index and Hba1c data will be added.

Email Multipage Twain Scan or Screen Cap(s) as PDF

Update(5-13-08) >>> You may scan a document (multipage) or screen capture(s) (multipage) into pdf files. The file is then attached to an email and sent to a recipient using SMTP. A list of various SMTP servers is included. The faxes may be previewed as can their cover letters and log. All faxes are stored and can be resent. Twain scanning is performed with "eztw32.dll" which is included and can be downloaded here: {http://www.geocities.com/smigman.geo/mci/download.html} The PDF file creation is based upon [http://www.vb6.us/tutorials/visual-basic-tutorial-pdf] and requires jpeg files. The BMP to jpg conversion requires "ijl15.dll" and was obtained here: [http://www.dll-files.com/dllindex/dll-files.shtml?ijl15] and is included. The email with attachment is based on txtCodeId=7519 and uses the winsock control. If you have Outlook, you may compile CntrlOutlk.exe file into the root and your Contacts List may be accessed using Microsoft Outlook 11.0 Object Library.
