With this demo interface you can add and remove your icon, change the tooltip and even display balloon tips from the icon being displayed. You can also set it up to tell you when events have occured and, best of all, you can even see an example tray icon animation! This application also shows the best bits of OO programming.

I like to listen to the GotRadio stations at http://www.gotradio.com/, but I don't like the ads constantly cluttering up the screen. This application utilizes the windows media player control to connect to the desired station. It also retrieves all of the info about the song being played and downloads the album cover picture and displays it. I also implemented some code to hook the keyboard and utilize the multimedia keys (Play, FF, Stop, etc.). There are 46 channels to choose from and the only ads are the audio/video type, not the banners from the website. Comments and ideas to improve it are welcome. I modified it to add Christopher Lord's tray icon class and to fix the unnecessary reference to X10 class.

Almost all the code in this module was written by one of the VB gurus on PSC, Carles P.V. His original submission can be found on PSC at txtCodeId=60580. In that submission he has two modules. One is for linear gradients that can be displayed at any angle, and the other is for circular gradients. My meager contributions to his excellence: - The linear and circular gradient generating routines have been merged into one routine that handles both gradient styles. - Linear gradients can be generated in a "middle-out" fashion - that is, from Color1 to Color2 back to Color1. Makes a nice 3D effect. - The code that actually displays the gradient has been removed from Carles' gradient generating routines and placed in a separate procedure. The reason for that is simple - speed. If you need to refresh the gradient background of a usercontrol often, why recalculate the background gradient information every time? Calculate it ONCE, cache it, and redraw it as needed with a simple PaintGradient call. A demo showing the module's capabilities is included. X10 Firecracker (CM17A) PalmPad Controller submitted by Tom Pydeski X10 put out some nifty home control products that communicate over the power lines and respond to commands to turn on; turn off; dim; etc. The CM17A is an rf controlled device that receives rf commands from a remote or the "firecracker" rf pc interface and relays them to the device modules. The HouseCode can be any 1 of 16 (A through P) and each house code can handle any of 16 devices (1 to 16). Keware (http://www.homeseer.com/downloads/index.htm) had put out an open source usercontrol for the firecracker, but I changed it to make it a class module, in order to eliminate packaging an ocx with the project. I took X10's firecracker interface picture of the palmpad and added my own graphic buttons to simulate the button presses and hovering. I also added the ability to label the buttons with the device name. Additionally I found some neat code to rotate an image and implemented that in allowing the selection of a housecode via the palmpad 's rotary switch. I also added LED's for each device to indicate their on/off status and used a vertical progress bar to set the dim level. I implemented a device status for each device. Finally, I was able to figure out the all on and all off commands (which the firecracker does not support) and implemented them as well. Of course all of this is useless if you don't have the x10 hardware that it interfaces with and controls (http://www.x10.com/automation/ck18a_s_ps32.html) (They were practically giving away the firecracker starter kit a few years back.)

I often find myself in need of a listbox in applications in which I don't use forms. I couldn't find anything on PSC (which would have saved me some time), so I just wrote my own. This is just a simple listbox class, no events, no confusing, never ending functions, just plain, simple VB code (I haven't used any APIs :D). The class is very small (only 2.3 kb). Also, this class can have more than 32767 items, because I've used Longs, and not Integers (like the VB listbox). V1.2 New features (since V1.0): --V1.1: 1) alphabetically sorting (module by Rde) 2) Add items somewhere in the middle of the list 3) Transport the list to a control (build-in textbox/listbox/combobox support) 4) Events --V1.2: 5) Search 6) Import from and export to a file 7) Encryption/decryption* *The encrypting/decrypting doesn't work very well. I'm not really an expert on encrypting/decrypting, so if anyone can (re-)write this for me... :D
