This is a DEMO Application on Using my FileMapping VB Class Module to Simulate the use of File Mapping APIs Used in Visual C++ and Win32 Assembly, Why in Visual Basic, Why Not? FileMapping Class Module ======================== Tired of using the traditional Visual Basic File Handling Routines, or even FileSystemObject failed to read to a file byte-by-byte, or you want to Access a File Using Pointers for Better Scalability Performance, while Some Anti-Virus Blocks the use of very useful FileSystemObject, File Mapping Functions comes into a handy set of routines just waiting for you to use them, and take note, we people as Visual C++ and Win32 Assembly uses this functions, because we dont have easy macros. Why use easy routines, and limiting your performance, use File Mapping, thats the only way!!! yup, Visual Basic doesn't support Pointer Variables, but there is a CopyMemory "RtlMoveMemory" to do the same effects (a little slower than the real pointers but that will do just fine) Included in this ZIP file is my Class Module to perform FileMapping and a demo Project on how to use the File Mapping by Traversing to an Executable format and checks whether it is a valid Win32 Portable Executable Format and finally checks what type of PE it is, PE32 or PE64 ======================================================================== This code checks for a valid PE Executable Format To understand this Application, you need to consult your nearest PE Documentation. Win32 Assembly Codes are included in Comments are 100% working on TASM32 Compiler, Created by: Chris Vega [gwapo@models.com] http://trider.8m.com
This is code will help to copy, move, delete files within VB Project without using Explorer and just defining the locations of source and target files. Kindly make reference to Microsoft Scripting Runtime (scrrun.dll). This code will greatly help in adding Backup and Restore routiens in simple manners.
To study one File-Format Structure, is a "TRUE" advanced task for a programmer, offset-by-offset and byte-by-byte definitions, and studying the Executable Format of the system you are working on one of this tasks. But to study a format, you must have a Viewer and a Format Description itself from the File-Format author/developer or by scanning through the use of Scanners/Detectors. Using the FileMapping Class I recently submitted to this Server, I have created a Portable Executable Viewer, an Application capable of: - Has support for Portable Executable 64-Bit - Opening and Detecting Portable Executable Type - Recalculating Image Checksum - View MS-DOS Compatibility Headers - View Portable Executable Headers - View Optional Headers - Generating a Full Report
Returns the file size of the file name passed in the format the user specifies
With this program you can give folder its own icon. It works on net disks and floppy disks, too!. Icons can be set from ICO file or extracted from EXE, DLL, ICL, OCX files. Program works with Windows 2000, Windows 98, Windows ME. Definetely check it out. It will make your life a little bit colourful :). And please vote if it does. Any suggestions, improvements & bug reports are also welcome.
This class module encompases te abilty to create and manage a console application. Send output and recieve output from the user, even change the output color and backcolor. Just pop thin in to your project and use like this: public sub Test() dim c as new cConsoleApp call c.Create("My Console app:) c.WriteLine "Hello. what's you name?" c.GetUserInput c.Writeline "Hello " & c.LastUserInput c.GetUserINput c.Destroy end sub
This is the follow up project from the basic VBExplorer I posted in September 2001. VBExplorer2 is a functional Explorer type project using the TreeView and ListView controls. The Facilities programmed are an 'Up one Level', Cut, Copy, Paste, Delete, Properties, Refresh, Rename(using the edit label feature in the ListView control), Large icons, Small icons and List icons. All supporting controls are placed on a frame object and rendered invisible at run time. The frmFileOps Form is an added bonus and shows some techniques in producing a smooth animation illustrating a Move/Copy operation. It uses the BitBlt API to animate a worm carrying a document in it's mouth between two computers. The code is surprisingly small. There's also a nice bit of code using a Label control that provides a movable bar between the TreeView and ListView controls letting you size the controls to your liking. Just place the cursor on the Bar and when the cursor changes to a West-East arrow Click-Hold-and-Drag to a new position. For further info see ReadMe2.txt.
This code allows you to copy any file, including your application to another destination at runtime. Note: This code has only been tested on Windows 98 using Visual Basic 6.0
When I started with Serial Comms and the API's I tried to find a piece of code as an example... I couldn't , so I wrote my own .. and here it is. Any suggestions to better the code will be great. This little program will open a COM port and read from it as well as write to it. Try this on any serial comm's device like a Modem, barcode scanner, Comm Printer etc.

I received a request from someone on help with a problem in deleting temporary files. It seems that they needed to delete all temporary files except for those with the current date. This subroutine was the result, and I though it would be good for those of you struggling with how to use the Dir and GetAttr and SetAttr functions in VB
This is an Amazing Tool that do all that: 1- Search for *.frm and *.bas on all your drives 2- Store files info in an MSFlexGrid 3- Retreive all the Functions/Subs from all the files 4- Store Functions/Subs info in an MSFlexGrid 5- Function, Sub and File Viewer 6- Api utilization for search optimization 7- Read/Write I/O files treatment 8- Dynamic forms demonstration 9- Lot more.... !!! Thanks for using this code. Carlos : elterrorista@videotron.ca (VBMania)
This Code shows you how to copy, cut, and paste with only a few lines this is very easy to do. This is the CODE and not just some garbage like those other copy, paste, and cut. AND IT WORKS!!!
This is the 'lite' version of the MSFlexgrid Editing code I posed on the 12th. This version does not use any TextBoxes at all. It has pretty much all the same features as the 'full' code, but a lot less code. Unless you're pickey you'll never know you're being faked out. 9-24-99: Major Additions (1) erases current cell and restores it again. (2) ADD, DELETE, INSERT, EXTRACT rows / cols.
WELL I HOPE THIS SUBMISSION GOES OVER BETTER THAN MY LAST. THIS PROGRAM ALLOWS TO PUT A PASSWORD TO JUST ABOUT ANY PROGRAM. YOU CAN JUST LOOK AT THE CODE BUT FOR THE PROGRAM TO ACTUALLY WORK YOU NEED TO COMPILE BOTH PROJECTS INTO .EXE'S BE SURE TO NAME THE PASSWORD.VBP .EXE "PASS.EXE". THIS CODE AND PROGRAM SHOULD BE EASY TO USE AND UNDERSTAND. I STILL AM NOT SURE ABOUT CORRECT SPACING BUT ALL THE CODE IS COMMENTED WITH DETAIL. HOPEFULLY THIS PROGRAM IS MORE UNDERSTANDABLE. PLEASE VOTE, AND GIVE FEEDBACK, EVEN IF YOUR VOT IS POOR. ENJOY!
New NotePad has the same purpose as Windows NotePad To Create and edit text files. With this new version it has line numbers to the left of the text which changes when you scroll with the scrollbar/Mouse scroll button. Also comes with line count. See the screenshot.
Appends a string to a specified file (or creates the file if needed). Unlike the open/print/close method, this subroutine uses Win32 API calls. This ensures that your application will be able to write to its log file correctly, even if another user has that log file open in an editor during your write attempt. This is the most practical approach to production-quality logging.
This program is a hexadecimal viewer. Please vote for me!
It has semi-A.I. (such as People moving around in random directions at a certain pace depending on the speed you set it to in the editor. You can also carry objects and drop them in other rooms. You can also edit location descriptions and change their exits around. You can even add rooms :)
File and binary encoder. Doesn't work that well with exe's but zip's and pictures work fine.
