Within a fly we can see the contents of the recordset. This will save a lot of time. The main purpose of this code is to pin point the exact location of the data that we need. We use filters to check the data and reduce the recordset to find the exact match. But this control by clicking on the tab sort the contents of the recordset and display to us. Creates an UDL-File (Universal Data Link) from an existing ADO-ConnectionString. Unfortunately the DataLinks-Object in the "Microsoft OLE DB Service Component 1.0 Type Library" provides some prompting dialogs to choose an ADO-Connection, but a save method to get an UDL-file is missing. So I coded this. Note that this wasn't as easy as it looks now, cause an UDL-file is no normal INI-file, although it seems to be one. The first thing is, that it must be saved in unicode. The second and very astonishing thing is, that the second line, which seems to be a missable comment, is very important and must be exactly as it is. Otherwise the UDL-file wont work! This is an update to the fantastic work of Jeremy van Dijk on SQLScripter 2.0. I have added just a few minor enhancements by borrowing more great code from Royce D. Powers (SPGenerator). The main feature that I've added is the ability to generate INSERT scripts for a selected set of tables - definitely NOT difficult, but handy. I have also made the command line options more complete and added a few extra.

The purpose of this class is make easy to generate ConnectionStrings to open ADO databases. Just setting some parameters you can easy open Access MDB with or without password, SQL server using username and password or Windows NT login, DBase III files, Excel Worksheets, Oracle and ODBC. Plus, with a minimum of modification you can easily add support to any other database. Of course that you always can hardcode your connections strings but this class will make this for you on a very friendly way. I'm updated with minor changed and translation of comments to english. Since it's my first submission to planet source code will be glad if I have some feedback positive or negative. I hope that this class can be so useful for you as it is for me. :)

Here are two functions that will allow you to read and write a Large Binary Object (BLOB) to and from a database. This could be used to store and retrieve images, documents, etc inside the database it self. This is great for those of use that have a lot of Binary files around that we want to keep in a central place that can be backed up and protected with the same security that a database offers. This code will work with *ANY* database that ADO can connect to.
This shows how to two things, first how to pass variables to a stored procedure on a SQL server, second it shows how to handle multiple recordsets being returned from the stored procedure. This allows for a greater speed then trying to pass the entire SQL query to the server especially when you have several. Please Vote if you like it! :)
VBRSGen is a handy VB 6.0 Add-In that creates formatted ADO/DAO recordset and SQL code from Access database tables and queries. Generates variables, sets objects, etc. Also includes a simple "Where" clause creator tool and a results preview grid. Code is ready to paste from the Clipboard or Notepad. Some SQL statements aren't parsed properly, but these can be easily edited; this still saves a lot of time in repetitive ADO/DAO database coding. I'm making this available elsewhere as shareware for $20, but because the PSC community has provided so much invaluable support and helpful code, feel free to download the open source code here for your own personal use at no charge! This was originally posted in early April 2002 and received amazing feedback and dozens of "5-Globe" votes, until the PSC database had some problems. Allows users to select any DSN-less ODBC data source, or an MS Access database, to display the tables in it, and select a table, which is automatically loaded into an Excel spreadsheet, complete with column headings (field names).
