This article has a two-fold purpose; One to show you an example of using the UpdateLayeredWindow function from Visual Basic. The other is to give you an example of using 32bpp bitmaps via the Windows GDI, which allows you to use per-pixel alpha blending for eye-catching effects.. This sample is based around a simple non-moveable form, that is semi-transparent (that is, you can see the windows desktop behind it). Go on, download, and browse through the code to get an understanding of the concepts presented. Hope you guys (and Gals) like it. Once again I must give all thanks to God my Father for guiding me throughout the entire development. Oh well, later.

Create SQL Insert scripts for Oracle, SQL Server (not 100% tested for SQL Server) to populate a table. This was a quick and dirty tool to allow me to provide data from a test database to a client who did not have a DBA. I would e-mail him data scripts and he ran the scripts. Great for populating databases. There is room for improvement and I have done about all that I want with this.
It shows you a polyhedron which, as the faces increase, approaches a sphere. The edges of the polyhedron are also calculated and reported for an easy construction of it. Pure VB6, no DirectX. Credits to Rod Stephens, www.vb-helper.com. The basic polyhedron is the icosahedron (20 equal equilateral triangles as faces). This application is based on an application downloaded from http://www.vb-helper.com/howto_geodesic_sphere.html done by Rod Stephens which performs all the calculations for the sphere points in 3D. Rotations algorithms are at web page http://skal.planet-d.net/demo/maths.html ,paragraph '3D and Perpective transformations'. My contribute has been essentially the addition of code for 3D display and animation. This application should meet the needs and curiosity of many interested in geodesic building, such architects, civilian engineers and geometry students. Sorry that the rotation of the sphere happens around its own axes and not around the fixed ones (the ones of the observer). This is the reason why this is not a 3D virtual reality application. I hope to do it in the next future. NOTE that most of this code may be subject to Copyrights by the many who worked in many ways around this application. To mention at least the most important of them, here follows the list: Pietro Cecchi, pietrocecchi@inwind.it Rod Stephens, feedback@vb-helper.com I do have the posting permission from Rod Stephens, of course. Even if most credits go to Rod Stephens, I will appreciate if you vote for me (or let's say: us) on Planet-source-code. Thanks everybody and bye Pietro Cecchi KEYWORDS: tensegrity, tension, structures, triangles, tetrahedrons, icosahedron, sphere, rotation, 3D, virtual reality, Platon, geometry, graphics, poligons, building, domes, stadiums, botanic, geodesic, homes
TaskBar Utilities - Made Easy is a program that hides the specific aread of TaskBar made easy... Please Vote!!! Thank You!!!
this is the latest version! it works 20 times faster than the old one and you can click! this code allows you to take over the cursor on a computer over lan or internet (haven't tested it over internet yet, but i believe it works). it only uses 4 api funktions (get cursor, set cursor, mouse event and sleep). if it doesn't work good try to change the timeout - in my lan it worked perfect with 25 millsec timeout. i've tested it only with win xp but it should also work with win 2000 and ME. it's impossible to run this prg on win 98 and 95. please leave some comments.
If you've ever tried to skin you app you'll most likely have noticed that when you resize the form you get a lot of flickering from the graphics. This code provides a method of resizing the form without all the flickering! When you resize the form using this code, an outline is shown and the form is resized when the mouse is released. The outline will also snap back to the existing size of the form and to the edges of the screen. Don't forget to vote if you like it =)

BrickBall is a breakout-type game that uses BitBlt very efficiently, in fact this game runs full speed on a 486! It is also made for 256-color systems. (uses a palette). If you want to make efficient 2D games, here is your start. Use the mouse to move the paddle, and hit the ball into the bricks. There is also a level editor just in case you feel you need one.. Let me know how this works, vote if you like it!
See a color in an application or on the web that you like and want to get its rgb or long value. Or perhaps capture a block of that color to the clipboard to paste into your graphics app. This is the program for you

Planet Source Code: Editorial Review
As*embly source, all files are included also a short description of the as*embly language so you can understand the code yourself. You don't have to be an expert as*embly programmer to understand it, because it is fairly easy, and it also shows why VB has slow string manipulation, and other things. Well I will leave it to you to find these reasons.
System Assessment XP is an easy way to compare different computers performances to each other, the program performances tests in a variety of different areas(Maths, Graphics, System...), and then displays the results in an easy to read graphs. The tests are benchmarked against my pc as a deault(AMD XP Barton 3000+, 512mb Ram, Radeon 9800 Pro 128mb Graphics) The test should be carried out on Windows XP as other OS's can provide different results.
