Version 1.1.0 has an updated Speed Control. The original version was incorrectly set in the center of the bar no matter what the speed was. Version 1.1.0 fixes that bug. (May 27,2005) GradientCombo has 4 different Gradient displays: GradientCombo has 4 different Gradient displays: 1 - Full Screen Gradient 2 - Smaller rectangular Gradients 3 - Gradient Circles 4 - Gradient Triangles You may set each displays Speed and Run Time without affecting the other displays. Click the Right Mouse button to open the Set-up Menu. I have included a Set-up file called "Grad_Comb.Ini". It is a Text file, so you may read or edit it with any word processor, such as WordPad or NotePad. It just saves your settings so you don't have to re-enter them each time you run the program. You may also Click the Left Mouse button to Freeze or Thaw the display, depending on the current screen status.
This is Version 2 of the Magic Wand program. It is another Graphical Display program brought to you by RandyGrams. The Wand flies around the screen bouncing off the walls. It is constantly changing colors to create a Gradient effect of swirling and overlapping lines. All of the effects are created using only straight lines. I have done a lot of clean-up and simplification since Version 1 but the biggest change is the ability to display the DeskTop WallPaper (see below for more details). Click the Left Mouse Button to start a new Drawing. Click the Right Mouse Button to open the Menu. The "Controls" section of the Menu has the "Check Box" called Show DeskTop WallPaper. When it is checked (Default), your DeskTop WallPaper will be displayed (Full Screen). Click it if you prefer to make the Back Ground Black. The next option is Speed. Click it to open the Speed control. You can make the Wand move Faster or Slower. The last option is Trail. If you turn the Trail off, the Wand still flies around the screen and bounces off the walls, but it doesn't leave a Gradient Trail behind. That's it. Have fun and enjoy using the Magic Wand.
Format groups of comments into neat looking comment boxes. I cheat! One comment that I frequently get regarding my programs is "How nicely they are Commented and Formatted". Well, I cheat! And now I'm going to show you how so you can have nice looking programs that are easy to read. Are you constantly re-writing comments in your VB code? I know I am! PSC is a fantastic VB resource but many of the comments that I see in source code are hard to read due to the way that they are formated. That's one reason why I wrote Formatter. Formatter uses your text to build Professional looking Comment Boxes to paste into your Visual Basic programs. You may also input a Text file, if you want. Formatter can be used to reformat any text that you want. It makes the source code much easier to read and debug. It will also aid you in making all of your programs look consistent. It is heavily commented and should be easy to modify to suit your own personal tastes. Whoops! I uploaded with a bad reference. The corrected VBP has now been uploaded. Sorry for any problems.
A brief and simple PopUp Menu Tutorial. Apr 22, 2007 - Added a 'Check-Box' Sub_Menu. Improved Menu names for easier reading and added more documentation.
New ScreenShot (Sep 13, 2007) It's a Puzzle. Try to put the pieces in their correct positions. Puzzle is a very easy game to play. Start Puzzle, then migrate to a Folder that contains Image files. You may select any picture you like. You may use the same picture over or select a new one each time. If you like, I will select one of the Graphic files at random. I will give you a few seconds to study the picture before I scramble it. Then all you have to do is to click on any two puzzle pieces, and press the 'Enter' key. When you press 'Enter', the last two puzzle pieces that you clicked will trade places. Keep swapping pieces until the Puzzle is solved. The first puzzle has only four large pieces and should be quite easy, but they get progressively more difficult. Like any Puzzle, some are easier and some are more difficult than others. Right click once anywhere on the Puzzle to open the Popup Menu. (Sep 10, 2007) - Added the "adesktop.tlb" that was missing from the first submission.
Swap is a game. Try to arrange the pieces so that no matching Pictures or Colors touch each other. It's simple to play but takes some logic to solve. Version 2.1 is here with lots of improvements and more options. The Icons are still available, but there are many other choices too. (I like the Wingding characters) The Menu is available full time and the Swap button at the top of the screen is gone. The Help file has been greatly improved, including several pictures. The user now has the ability to change any/all colors on the fly. Please read the Help file to see all the new options.
I originally wrote this to scan my directories and sub-directories, then list the most recently saved VB Projects. I know that when I open VB, I can choose 'Recent' and pick from that list. However, when I download and try many programs from PSC, plus a few more of my own, that list quickly becomes quite cumbersome and it really doesn't tell me which ones I have edited. It also can list programs that have already been moved or deleted. So I wrote this. Version 2.0.0 (May 30, 2007) I changed the colors for a more standard Windows look. I added this Help file and a whole NEW Menu system. I replaced the TextBox with a RichTextBox. The output list is saved to a text file which you may delete from the Popup Menu. Note: The Fonts and colors may vary from the screenshot.
Gradient_API uses the 'GradientFillTriangle' API to create two opposed Gradient filled triangles. The effect is that you get a screen sized display that is a Gradient in all directions. By using the API, I can achieve very fast graphics. I set it up to use a Timer (tmrGrad_API) to continually refresh the display every second. I included a popup Speed control, accessible by right-clicking the form, so that the user may control the display speed. I set the minimum time to 10 milliseconds, which is too fast for me (it causes an annoying flashing). On the other hand, the maximum of 10 seconds is very slow (too slow for me). The colors of the 4 corners, and the direction that the triangles face, are chosen at random, so the display will be constantly changing.
I wrote GradientCircles a few years ago as part of a larger project. It has always been one of my favorite Graphics programs. But then I'm a sucker for colorful random graphics. I've seen some other interesting graphic displays on PSC that are based on a specific formula or pattern, so that once you see it.... you've seen it. In other words, it does one thing nicely, but that's the only thing it can do. GradientCircles is my example of just the opposite. It is colorful and always changing. The colors of the circles are always different, the circle size always changes and sometimes the circle builds from the center out and other times it shrinks from the outer edge to the center.
